Howdy folks, we met through work and soon realized we both really enjoyed adventure travel and being off the beaten path and away from the typical tourist traps. We both enjoy biking, kayaking, wake boarding, SCUBA Diving and just about anything outdoors.
In fact, we got engaged in an underground lake in a cave at the bottom of a 300ft sinkhole, in Belize Oct of 2010. There's more to that story but I'll leave that for another day. Suffice it to say it was an exciting day with a little added stress due to the logistics of trying to sneak an engagement ring in for a little cave swimming.
Kara Muessig (Brownig)
Hook 'em) and completed her second degree in Electrical Engineering. After UT she started the Cisco's Associate Systems Engineer program by moving away for a year in North Carolina. As soon as she got the chance she moved back to Texas, initially to Dallas, where she quickly came to her senses and moved back to Austin where we currently live. Kara was also the first woman (world wide) to earn the Wireless CCIE certification (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert), which means she's pretty much a rock star when it comes to Wireless networks and we're hoping that will equate to being marketable if we decide to take some breaks during our travels and need to make a little $ along the way.
Born May 22, 1973. I grew up in Marble Falls TX (near Austin). Got a BS in Biology from Southwest Texas State, back when I still thought I wanted to be a doctor. When I decided that wasn't for me I went to grad school thinking I'd be a professor (you know anything to avoid the real world). Then I finally quit grad school and worked for a while in a water quality and microbilogy lab until I decided it was just too boring and wormed my way into technology. I was installing networks and training users for the department of labor (Job Corps) how to use a computer and email and internet. It was a great learning experience and led me to a career at Cisco. In 2007 I completed my CCIE in Routing and Switching so now Kara and I can study together when it's time to renew the certification every two years but again we're hoping some of that experience will allow us to work a bit as we cruise.
